Everything-as-a-Service
Unitel was founded upon the vision of delivering low-cost, high-capacity, on-demand IT and Communications services across the Internet (“Cloud-Computing”). We believe that IT and Communications are becoming like other utilities such as gas, water or electricity.
Few, if any, enterprises need their own power sub-station. Similarly, few enterprises need to invest in their own complete IT/Comms infrastructure. Even the software you use should be rented whilst it is useful rather than bought and left to become obsolete within months. Visit the pages below to find out more about the practical applications of Cloud Computing.
Software-as-a-Service ("SaaS")
Software as a service… sometimes referred to as "on-demand software," is a software delivery model in which software and its associated data are hosted centrally (typically in the (Internet) cloud) and are typically accessed by users using a thin client, normally using a web browser over the Internet.
Unlike traditional software, conventionally sold as a perpetual license with an associated up-front fee (and, typically, smaller ongoing support fees), SaaS providers generallyprice applications using a subscription fee, most commonly a monthly fee or an annual fee. Consequently, the initial setup cost for SaaS is typically lower than the equivalent enterprise software.

Platform-as-a-Service (“PaaS”)
Platform as a service… is the delivery of a computing platform… as a service.
PaaS offerings facilitate deployment of applications without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software and provisioning hosting capabilities, providing all of the facilities required to support the complete life cycle of building and delivering web applications and services entirely available from the Internet.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service ("IaaS")
Cloud infrastructure services… deliver computer infrastructure as a service.
Rather than purchasing… data-centre space or network equipment, clients instead buy those resources as a fully outsourced service.

Communications-as-a-Service (“CaaS”)
Communications-as-a-Service is a combination of new world Voice-over-IP and old world Centrex.
Centrex is a solution where the equipment needed to process a telephone call and offer telephone features is located on a service provider's premises rather than the customers premise. Centrex thus frees the customer from the costs and responsibilities of major equipment ownership. When combined with VoIP a number of other benefits arise such as:
Convergence: CaaS allows the customer to combine data and voice connectivity in a single network
Mutlilocation: CaaS gives the ability to make two or more locations part of the same group no matter where in the world they actually are, with no charge to call between locations and a uniform numbering plan
Computer Telephony Integration (CTI): CaaS promotes CTI solutions where telephone functions can be controlled by the user's PC, and where telephone information can be integrated with other software applications.
